Glassworks Outing

Earlier this month, I was able to surprise Michael with an outing to a local working glass museum. (He recently surprised me with an overnight to Cincinatti to see Wicked so I figured he was overdue for a surprise himself.) We took a tour and then Michael had an appointment to blow a glass raindrop. He has always been fascinated by glass blowing and torch work so this was a great afternoon date for us. They start out with clear glass from the furnace and you get to choose your colors from little glass pieces called fritts. After several trips in and out the furnace Michael got to blow the ornament with the assistance of a glass artist from the museum. With two anklebiters we are excited to watch primetime tv quietly in the evening so this felt like quite a treat!
