At the end of June we went on a family outing with my moms group to a local minor league baseball game. Even for a person such as myself who "doesn't do sports" it was a great time. Minor league games are the way to go, they are family friendly and you feel much closer to the action. Or at least that is the case when they are playing and not chatting at the mound or sauntering in and out of the dugout/clubhouse/benched area where they eat sunflower seeds. This was a big deal for us since it was Hayden's very first baseball ga
me. My folks had just gotten back from picking up the Michigan Grandmonsters and were gracious enough to scoot our direction so that Blamma could keep Bailey for the evening while we went to the game. Dad got tickets for himself and Nissa's crew while Michael, Hayden and I wandered off to our group seating. It worked out so nicely to have two different places to hang out during the game. That kept Hayden going. He even got to pet Jake the Diamond Dog a handsome Golden Retriever that ran the bases between innings. We got there just in time to teach Hayden how to listen to the National Anthem. It was quite sweet to watch my boys hold their hats to their chest during the music. Hayden did a fantastic job of staying still and quiet for this. And as all of us H fans know, still and quiet are not his favorite things to be! We ate lots of horrible but delicious ballpark food, played at the park, rode the carousel and event found some time to watch some of the game.
