Last weekend was my Papa's birthday. Tuesday, he and my folks were going to be in town working at the temple so they asked if they could stop by. We decided it would be fun to surprise Papa with a belated bday cake. I saved directions for a guitar cake months ago hoping that we could make that for Papa sometime and this was the perfect occasion. He just loves music and has passed this love onto his family through the years. He even put together a set of CD's with him playing and singing. Hayden and Bailey have both gone to sleep countless times with their greatgrandfather's music in the background.

The kids were very excited to celebrate. I sent Hayden over to invite Papa to the table and he said "Papa, you come to the table - We have a surprise for you. It is a birthday cake surprise!" The kids proceeded to lick every smidgen of frosting off of their pieces. When no trace of buttercream remained, Hayden offered to trade his piece with someone else. Such strategy.
Later as Papa snoozed on the sofa, Bailey marched over, shook his knee and shouted "WAKE UP PAPA! WAKE UP!!"
Happy Birthday Papa! Hope you had better luck with your nap once you got home.
