A Day Out With Daddy

On October 15th, Hayden got to go on his very first field trip with Daddy as a chaperone. The boys headed off that morning and caught the bus with the other preschoolers. Hayden got to be the line leader for the big stroll from his classroom to the bus which apparantly is a very big deal in Haydenland. Like most kids, Hayden has had a few trips to the pumpkin patch in his lifetime but this was the only time he has had the thrill of riding on the school bus. All of the kids were just over the moon about this milestone.
If things are looking familiar, it is because this is the same spot Bailey and I took our trip to with the MOMS Club earlier in October. Hayden got to run through the corn maze and loved being surrounded by the tall stalks.

After playing in the corn maze, the pumpkin house and on the haystack it was time for a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Here's a nice shot of the boys on their ride.

Behold, the mighty and uber-authentic pumpkin patch! While the layout is a bit pre-fab for adults, the kids do like to see the array of pumpkins and it is nice to avoid tripping through the actual vines. H picked out a pumpkin for himself as well as one for Bailey.
Of course, there was a huge tractor to pull the hayride so Michael took advantage of the chance to add another shot of H in front of a massive wheel to our growing collection of "Boy Dwarfed By Tire" photos.

After the hayride there were a few activities for the kids. The preschool brought along a large parachute. When Hayden was younger we took a class that had a parachute similar to this one and he loved it. So scoring a bit of parachute time on the field trip was a major plus.
All of this playing and pumpkin picking can make for a hungry youngster so everyone was jazzed when snacktime rolled around. A blessing was made on the pretzels and apples (and hopefully on the adults corralling the kids!). As you can see, H has a fairly amusing prayer face. I'd like to think that the big guy upstairs knows that he is being as fervent and sincere as a hungry little dude can, otherwise it looks like he is constipated. But I'm sure that you can't get to that level of heavenly authority without being able to tell the difference...
Bailey and I were very excited when Michael and Hayden returned home with lots of stories about their adventures. It was sweet that Michael got to travel along for this fun trip with his boy.
